Let me tell you a bit about myself.

Hi, I’m Lorraine, a counsellor with a lifelong passion for listening, supporting, and helping people feel seen and safe. I am a mother a grandmother and someone who knows what it means to rebuild after surviving domestic abuse.  I know the confusion, the silence, the shame, and I know how hard it is to reach out and say, “I need help”. That lived experience deeply informs the way I work today, with compassion, without judgement, and with a deep respect for each person’s story and strength. I understand how life’s challenges can echo through generations, and how vital it is to feel supported through them.

Before becoming a counsellor, I spent many years as a hairstylist, a role that taught me the power of connection and how powerful it is to have someone truly listen. Over time I realised that what I loved most wasn’t just the transformation on the outside, but the healing that happens when someone feels truly heard. It was in those quiet everyday conversations behind the chair that I saw how much people hold their stress, their fears, their pain.

My approach is compassionate, down to earth, and always guided by the belief that healing happens in safe, non-judgemental spaces.

I am passionate about supporting survivors of domestic and sexual abuse. Through my training with a rape crisis agency, I gained meaningful experience working directly with individuals affected by these forms of violence. I continue to dedicate my time to supporting survivors of rape and sexual violence, and this work remains central to my values and professional goals.

I am also dedicated to supporting girls in a private school setting, helping them navigate the challenges they are experiencing during a crucial stage of their development. I integrate CBT techniques to empower them with practical coping skills, build emotional resilience, and foster a safe space where they feel heard and understood.

I believe in continually developing my professional practice so that I can offer the best, safest, and most ethical support to the people I work with. Staying connected to current research, new ideas, and evolving approaches helps me remain informed and responsive, and ensures that the work I do is grounded in up-to-date and thoughtful understanding.

Supervision is an important part of this process for me. It provides a safe, reflective space where I can explore my work openly and honestly, celebrate what is going well, and look closely at anything that may need more attention. Through supervision, I am supported to stay aligned with my values, maintain clear boundaries, and ensure that the choices I make in my practice are made with care, integrity, and respect.

My intention is always to work alongside people in a warm, person-centred way, honouring their experiences, trusting in their capacity for growth, and creating a relationship that feels collaborative, compassionate, and safe. Ongoing learning and reflective supervision help me show up fully in this way, allowing me to offer support that is not only ethically grounded but also deeply human, attuned, and responsive to the unique needs of each individual I meet.
